Synopsis of
The Maintenance Man
by
Michael Baisden

Malcolm Tremell has a lifestyle that most men only dream about, exotic cars, designer clothes, and a clientele of wealthy women. In his world sex is not a game, it’s serious business. For a generous fee he plays the role of temporary companion and lover. And women are eager to pay for his unique services, both inside and outside the bedroom. But after years of jumping in and out of bed with hundreds of emotionally scarred women he becomes weary of his occupation. The endless nights of meaningless sex and secret rendezvous with married women begins to play on his conscience. But Malcolm soon discovers that change won’t come so easily, not with the allure of so many beautiful women and thousands of tax free dollars.

Simon is Malcolm’s best friend, who vows to change his sinful ways. He is a modest man who prefers not to attract attention to himself. But Simon is aggressive when it comes to business. After years of sacrifice he is now the owner of the hottest nightclub in Atlanta, Club Obsession. But success has not come without a price. Simon’s hard work and dedication has left a void in his relationship. During the Fourth of July weekend in New Orleans, his fiancée, Cynthia, meets a handsome pastor. And with the encouragement of her promiscuous girlfriend Debra, she is tempted to get a little maintenance of her own.

Theodore, a.k.a. Teddy Bear is the star stripper on Ladies’ Night at Club Obsession. He’s a cold blooded player who toys with women’s emotions. He tells them he loves them and will never leave, that is, until their money runs out; then he’s gone faster than the last cold beer at a July barbecue. Teddy is the consummate user who has mastered the art of irresponsibility. In thirty-two years he’s never signed a lease or paid a dime of child support for his numerous children. And he has no intention of changing his ways. As far as he is concerned women were put on this earth for the sole purpose of serving his needs.

Ariel is the manager of Club Obsession. She is a savvy businesswoman who knows how to keep the employees in line and the customers happy. But the club isn’t her biggest challenge. Ariel is struggling with being manless and childless at thirty. Although she is surrounded by attractive and successful men, she can’t find Mr. Right. Her mother thinks she is too combative and sets her standards too high. But Ariel is determined to have the ideal man; white-collar job, large bank account, great sense of humor, physically attractive, and good in bed. After several months without a date, she calls in to the local radio station hook-up line. What happens next can only be described as a series of nightmares.
